An escape rope is a tool used for self-rescue in emergencies such as fires. As people's awareness of fire prevention continues to improve, households often equip ropes for unexpected needs. However, many people do not know the proper use of self-rescue ropes and the necessary accompanying tools. Many think that just one self-rescue rope is enough to escape and save themselves in an emergency, but this is a serious misconception that could lead to death or severe injury.
When people panic, they often tremble and lose strength in their hands and feet. In such situations, how much friction can a user generate by gripping the rope with bare hands? Besides the injury caused by friction and heat between the hand and rope, the more fatal risk is that once the hand gets burned, the user will instinctively loosen their grip and slide down the rope instantly, which can result in death or injury. Currently, from our factory's sales of fire escape ropes, very few customers request to be equipped with figure-eight rings and safety belts. From a business perspective, as a company, we hope to sell more products, but from a safety technician's point of view, we are very concerned about the safety risks these ropes might cause if sold without the proper accessories. We worry whether these escape ropes will be used together with figure-eight rings and safety belts.
In recent years, with increased attention to safety, many places have conducted fire safety courses allowing residents to experience the use of fire safety products and escape techniques. However, China is vast and populous, and people's awareness of fire safety varies. More worryingly, most people have a mentality of luck. Regardless of whether such accidents will happen to us, it is beneficial to master more correct self-rescue methods. In fact, in our neighboring country Japan, the public is very well educated in safety and self-rescue knowledge, often facing disasters calmly and effectively using what they have learned to escape and save themselves.
From a professional perspective, among high-rise (descent type) escape equipment, the controlled descent device is the most effective. Considering the actual physical strength of the elderly and children, relying solely on one's grip strength is definitely problematic, especially when using products like self-rescue ropes, which should be carefully considered. Therefore, users should consider the elderly and children in their households when choosing escape products and conduct effective training when possible, even if only once or twice in a lifetime. Of course, safety protection should be strengthened during initial use, progressing slowly from low to high.
In summary, I hope everyone can master as much safety knowledge as possible to prevent accidents caused by human error.
